Gretchen Smith is a Senior Paralegal at Best Interest Family Law Firm with more than 15 years of experience in family law. Her work spans divorce, allocation of parental responsibilities, adoption, guardianship, protection orders, and marital agreements. She has supported cases from initial filing through trial and appeal, including complex and high-asset financial matters.
Gretchen’s attention to detail and deep understanding of the family law process help keep cases organized and on track. She works closely with attorneys on financial disclosures, discovery, pleadings, trial preparation, and overall case management. She also brings a strong focus on developing efficient processes that make the legal team more effective and the client experience more seamless.
Gretchen chose to build her career in family law because she values the opportunity to help people through times of significant change. She understands that behind every filing, deadline, and court appearance is a person making decisions that can affect their family and future for years to come. She works to ensure clients feel heard, informed, and supported throughout that process. Her approach combines practical knowledge of family law with empathy and compassion for the people behind each case.
Gretchen earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Missouri State University, along with a Graduate Certificate in Forensic Child Psychology. She continues to pursue professional education to stay current with developments in family law.
Originally from the Kansas City area, Gretchen joined the Colorado legal community in 2020. She is proud to call Colorado home but remains loyal to her Kansas City roots. Go Chiefs!
